Today’s word is: acquisition. Acquisition means an object purchased or obtained, the learning or developing of a skill or habit, the process of acquiring something or taking possession.

Example number 3 of 8: Earlier, the insurance field in the country had several large and small companies competing with each other. However, of late, larger companies are uniting with smaller companies through mergers and acquisitions.

 

Example number 4 of 8:  The Kelkar museum displays several articles of historical importance. These articles have been collected over several decades through careful acquisition from private collectors and historical sites.

 

Example number 5 of 8: Ravindra had an orchard of Mangoes and he would sell the mangoes in the local market. Once, he examined the possibility of acquisition of a mango pulp making unit. When he implemented the same, it turned out to be very lucrative.

 

Example number 6 of 8: The courier company was operating from multiple small offices in the same industrial zone. The management called a meeting of the stakeholders to discuss the acquisition of larger premises at a central location.

 

Example number 7 of 8:  Microsoft’s acquisition of Hotmail in 1997 took place at a valuation of 550 million dollars. The Hotmail facility was then integrated with web based software of the parent company.

 

Example number 8 of 8: The journalists quizzed the owner of the resort about his recent acquisition of the adventure park. But, he preferred not comment on the specifics of the case.
