Today’s word is: grave. The meaning of grave is: severely bad, looking very serious and worried, causing fear or anxiety, a place in the ground where the dead body is buried

The word grave means something that is quite serious or inducing tension. It also refers to a place where dead are buried. Thus, it has two different meanings.

For example: Due to severe shortage of water, the draught situation in the region is grave.

 

Even after several years of his death, fans continue to visit the grave of the pop star and would leave flowers on it.

Example number 1 of 8:  The owner’s face turned grave when his accountant told him about the shortfall of funds for production. He decided to meet the bank manager to arrange for additional credit facility.

 

Example number 2 of 8:  The water pollution due to the factory resulted in health hazards (means risks) for the villagers. Soon, the situation was so grave that more than half the population was affected with critical stomach illnesses.

 

Example number 3 of 8:  After celebration of independence day event at the society, the parents took the children to visit the grave and memorial of a great freedom fighter. This way, they reminded the children of the sacrifices made for gaining independence.

 

Example number 4 of 8:  The constructions of the hill station were happening at a brisk speed in the mountainous area. This created a grave danger to the life of the locals and tourists. Therefore, the collector of the district put a halt to new constructions till a complete scrutiny was completed.

 

Example number 5 of 8: The owner of a stationary store passed away at a young age. This posed a grave challenge in front of his family. Luckily, the staff of the store came together and assured his wife that they will support her whole heartedly to run the business as earlier.

 

Example number 6 of 8:  Denzel used to contact senior citizens through an online medium posing as a bank official. He would get hold of their passwords and steal money from their accounts. This was a grave crime and when caught, he was sentenced to prison for a long duration.

 

Example number 7 of 8:  The spiritual leader advised his followers to live life sensibly and motivated them to spend a part of their earnings towards charity and welfare. He reminded them that no one can carry his wealth to the grave.

 

Example number 8 of 8: The committee discussed the use of an alternate, lower cost material in the construction of a bridge in order to reduce cost. One of the members strongly objected and reminded all that the bridge will be used by large number of people and any mishap (means accident) can have grave consequences.
