Today’s word is: impart. Impart means:  to give something such as information, knowledge or beliefs to someone, to grant a share of, to bestow a quality on someone

The word impart expresses a formal action where some important thing such as knowledge or skills are given to someone. It is something special that is given to the chosen recipient.

 

For example, one of the most important skills for a teacher is the ability to impart knowledge to the students.

Example number 1 of 8:  The media reported heavy loss of property and injury to about 50 students due to a fire in a school. As a reaction to the news, the principals of all schools in the town held a meeting. The matter was discussed and it was unanimously decided to impart training for firefighting to the students.

 

Example number 2 of 8: The performance of the organisation was getting affected due to arguments and non-cooperation amongst the eminent members. Ultimately, the Chairman took it upon himself to impart a lesson of unity and commitment to the members.

 

Example number 3 of 8:  Have you heard about preservatives? Preservatives are used to impart colour and flavour to food items. However, it must be noted that excessive use of preservatives can have an adverse effect on the health of the consumer.

 

Example number 4 of 8: India’s past president late Dr. Abdul Kalam had great faith in the abilities of the young generation. Therefore, he spent a considerable time imparting scientific and nationalistic values to youngsters by delivering lectures across the country.

 

Example number 5 of 8:  Last month, JK industries replaced their primitive production equipment with latest machinery and a centralised software system. The human resources department, therefore, made arrangements for imparting skill based courses for the entire work force working with these equipment and software.

 

Example number 6 of 8:  A large number of residents of a village suffered from critical illnesses. This was due to extreme environmental pollution in the vicinity. When an international NGO learnt about this crisis, it imparted funds to setup a medical care centre locally.

 

Example number 7 of 8: The bungalow construction was completed, but the owner, Mrs. Ahuja felt that something was missing. Therefore, after consulting an interior designer, she displayed some beautiful plants at conspicuous places and it imparted a grand look to the bungalow.

 

Example number 8 of 8: The skill of public speaking is not about the delivery of the speech to the audience. It involves imparting the message in a lucid and flawless manner.
